about

Create/Destroy/Create is a story with a beginning, middle, and end. It is the infinite search for meaning and purpose. It is a reflection on past mistakes, and a resolve not to repeat them. It is the quest for confidence and faith in oneself, the cyclical journey between question and answer. It is knowing when enough is enough, and when settling will never suffice. It is the resolve to leave behind a legacy to be proud of. It is acceptance that perfection is myth, control is fiction, and ambition is happiness. It is meant to be listened to on repeat with the speakers turned to 11; for in any story worth telling, the end is just the beginning.

Track Name: Love Fortress #9
I took you in I put you up
You put me up to take me down
I quenched your thirst, filled your lungs
Then you sat back to watch me drown
I gave you space I gave you room
What's a room without a door?
I built this house to keep us safe
You built this house to keep me yours

Take it or leave it this is how I see it
Take it or leave it this is how I see it
Take it or leave it this is how I see it
How I see it
Take it or leave it

I let you in you let me down
I keep on wondering why I keep you around
You built these walls with my blood and sweat
I may forgive but I will never forget

I taught you everything I know
You teach but will you ever learn
I fed the fire to keep you warm
Then you sat back to watch me burn
Sticks and stones to make you strong
Broken bones are all you know
I planted seeds to watch you grow
And now you'll reap what you sow
Track Name: Paper Napkins
In between the spaces that I give myself to breathe
Everything's so crowded there's no room for me to fall apart
In between the trying not to smash my fists on broken thoughts
Dreams they wake me, shake me, take me to a place where I can't sleep

In between the trying blindly, fiercely not to die
I'm all tied up with wondering what it means to be alive
In between the surface scratching nails on chalkboard walls of time
Classroom clocks tick slowly backwards, playgrounds shape to fill my mind

Paper napkin memories crumpled carefully, just strewn about
The wind it shakes them takes them breaks them, cast aside they float around
Paper napkin memories, fine tissue marked with ink that speaks
Once folded neatly, gently, sweetly, cast aside they're all worn out

In between those softly spoken words that echo bliss
You reach out to pull me in to push us out of this abyss
In between the torn up tear down breakup breakdown fits
I know it's not good enough, that I need so much more than this
Track Name: The Honeymoon Is Over
There was a time you and I were in love
I was a hand, and you were a glove
You were so young and naive, immature
You were so innocent, and insecure

Chemistry, well now that you can't fake
This was a risk I was willing to take
I always knew that it couldn't last
So what say we remember the good times and leave the rest in the past

Makeup, breakup; when will it end?
Headache, heartbreak; I'm sick of this trend
I thought we would last forever; we were so perfect together
There was a time we could disguise all of our problems with crimson and clover
But this time the honeymoon is over

Delusions, confusions, convolutions of bliss
Not every argument can be solved with a kiss
Put this decision off with one more excuse
Feels like I've got nothing to gain but everything to lose

My heart stopped, my jaw dropped
But I'd be lying if I said I was shocked
Another fight another wrong to make it right
Another lie spoke, another promise broke
I can't ignore all of the signals anymore
I can't go on pretending nothing's wrong
I'm done with compromises I can not survive another makeup ...
Track Name: Wonderlust
I've travelled on the sunny side of roads once painted black
Found beauty in the wicked, pricked by needles in haystacks
Everywhere I've turned I've felt as though I might belong
But every road eventually winds its way back to my home

Fancy trips and airplanes to the tropics of my mind
Waves that lap shores and leave a trace of lust behind
Footsteps on the finest sands caressed by hands of time
Eventually slow sands turn quick and the hands of time rewind

Home
It lives inside of me
Home
Always staring back at me
Home

I've dressed in costumes worn by those I've always dreamt I'd be
Found magic glass slippers that slipped right on my feet
Felt foreign fabric cloak my skin concealing my defeat
But under those fine woven threads there's nothing hiding me

I am a climber weary of the mountain
I am a sailor nauseous from the sea
I am a hunter captured by the game
I am a pilot fighting gravity

I've travelled on the sunny side of roads once painted black
Found beauty in the wicked, pricked by needles in haystacks
Everywhere I've turned I've felt as though I might belong
But every road eventually finds its way back to my home
Track Name: The Machine
They took us from our homes, promising that we would be back soon
And suddenly my family was forever swept away by the monsoon
My father was a doctor; he was shot before my eyes
My mother was a teacher; she was beaten by a boy about my size
They sent my brother to the fields, I never saw him again
They said I had a new brother now, and I should save all my love for him

They sing me these songs and they gave me this gun
And they said off you go, go have some fun
All these things that I've done they haunt my dreams at night
But I'm too young to stand up, and I am too weak to fight

I'm just a gear in the machine now; my future's been erased
And when I'm rusting from neglect, I'll be discarded and replaced
Now hatred is my only friend and terror and destruction are my toys
But don't hate me for what I've done - I am just a little boy

Sometimes I get lost in my dream of how everything could have been
If I had had a family, a sister to look out for me
But that was not my destiny, and I wake to a reality
That I have lost my innocence to apathy and poverty
A child is no commodity, a future can't be bought or sold
But this is no democracy, and I am only 8 years old

I'm sick of being cute and I am tired of being funny
I don't need your pity and I do not want your money
I've sold my soul but still I can't put shoes on my feet
But there is no time to rest when you sleep on the street

I'm just a gear in the machine now; my future's been erased
And when I'm rusting from neglect, I'll be discarded and replaced
Trapped within this shell might be a beautiful shining pearl
But for now I shall remain the shadow of a little girl

This is my country; it was built with my skin and bones
It's no paradise but it's the only home I know
I'm just a gear in the machine, I am just another brick in the wall
It may take some time but one day this fortress will fall

So I dream of a world in which freedom is more than a name
I dream of a world in which freedom is more than a name
I dream of a world in which freedom is more than a name
I dream of a world in which freedom is more than my name
Track Name: This Is Our Wanting
You can't see what's right in front of you
Blame it on your crooked frame of view
Blame it on the twinkle in her eyes
You can't see what's in between the in between the lines

You can't find the ground beneath your feet
Blame it on the crutch on which you lean
Blame it on your shallow depth of field
That you can't find the haystack in the needle

One more wall to break through
One more god to pray to
I don’t need you anymore

You can't hear the voice that screams your name
Blame it on the clouds that crowd your brain
Blame it on the clawing gnawing cries
You can't hear your outdoor voice inside

You can't see what's right in front of you
Blame it on what other people do
Blame it on that self absolving tale you call the truth
But you can't see what's right in front of you

One more wall to break through
One more god to pray to
I don’t need you anymore
One more lapse in vision
One more bad decision
I don’t need you anymore
Track Name: 8:17
There may come a day with no mystery at all
With no more line between summer and fall
A day when distinction between wrong and right
Fades from black to white
There may come a day with no knowing glances
With no longing stares, no second chances
A day when the truth of thoughts left unspoken
Are woken when silence is broken

There may come a day with no mystery at all
No questions just answers that tear down the wall
A day when with strength we stare doubt in the face
We finally stop looking, stop craving the chase
Until then we’ll wander
We’ll wonder, we’ll ponder
Roam aimless and shallow, regret what we squander

And when that day comes will we welcome it?
When that day comes will we run from it?

There may come a day with no tears left to cry
When you can no longer look me in the eye
A day we regret indiscretions with shame
We grow up, grow so sick and tired of this game
But oh how we stumble
We curse and we mumble
There may come a day with no phone call to dread
When all that remain are the words left unsaid

There may come a day with no mystery at all
No argument lost, no problem to solve
A day when the pieces quit falling apart
If that ain’t the truth, at least it’s a start
Track Name: This Is Yours
This dawn is yours to break, this path is yours to take
Skeptics they want you - old fears they haunt you
There is no time for fate. This is yours: create, destroy, create.

This chain is yours to end, farewell to absent friends
You say your sorries - wrap up your stories
The less you take the more you lend, the less you break the more you bend

This is yours to make

This ballroom's yours to blitz, like back when we were kids
There is no fighting - a spark igniting
Cast out those habits long at bay, watch them fade through shades of grey

These wide eyes long to swim, they search across the horizon
A future passion - an older fashion
The tallest castle is built brick by brick by brick by brick

Some call it destiny some call it choice
You stop inside your tracks I lose my voice
We see the trees …
Track Name: The Ocean
The strength to stand tall and not fall apart
The weight of a dream that speaks from the heart
There will come a time when the red hand is caught
For the ocean can do what the drop can not

The search far and wide for what lies inside
The stubborn belief that a new sun will rise
The freedom from shame can turn back the clock
For the ocean can do what the drop can not

When I whisper do you hear me scream your name?
When I whisper do you hear me scream?
When I whisper do you hear me scream your name?
Do you hear me scream?

The days without question that still bring an answer
The tall tree that sways like an elegant dancer
The current will guide when it’s no longer fought
For the ocean can do what the drop can not

One grain of sand, a sliver in time
The infinite search for a meaningful sign
But not every tale has a circular plot
For the ocean can do what the drop can not
